Senior Consultant - Quantum
A well-respected claims and disputes consultancy based in Leeds is looking to hire a Senior Consultant – Commercial & Quantum. The successful candidate will likely come from a main contracting Quantity Surveying background with some exposure to claims, or be a Claims/Disputes Consultant who has worked for a consultancy providing dispute resolution services.

Project Details
This type of role typically provides exposure to a wide variety of assignments across multiple sectors. You are likely to work with a range of well-known clients, including tier one main contractors, specialist subcontractors and client organisations, supporting both live project claims and formal dispute work.
Responsibilities and Duties
As a Senior Consultant, you will work with the wider team to support clients with commercial, contractual and quantum matters relating to claims on live projects and disputes.
You will be expected to provide services including:
- Examining and advising on construction contracts (NEC/JCT)
- Providing commercially focused advice to help clients avoid and resolve disputes
- Supporting the preparation of claims, submissions and associated quantum content
- Assisting the expert with analysis and expert report writing
- Advising clients on cost matters, including variations, change control and valuations
- Delivering coaching and training to clients on commercial, contractual and (where relevant) time-related issues
- Report writing and supporting client representation in tribunals (including adjudication)
- Working collaboratively with solicitors and legal teams on construction-related disputes
Desired Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working for a main contractor or specialist subcontractor in a Quantity Surveying role
- Experience within a claims/disputes consultancy is advantageous but not essential
- Strong experience providing construction commercial and contractual advice
- Good understanding of typical Quantity Surveying duties, including managing variations and change
- Exposure to formal dispute processes (adjudication, arbitration, litigation) is beneficial
- Well-presented, articulate and comfortable in a client-facing role
- Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract is essential
- Competent with Microsoft Office packages
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent) preferred
- RICS membership (or similar) and/or an MSc/LLM in Construction Law is desirable
- Candidates working towards chartership and/or further qualifications may also be considered
