A Senior Quantity Surveyor is required to Commercially manage a £25m mixed use project in Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will report to the Commercial Manager who will be based in the company's regional office in Birmingham.

Project Details

The project is a £25m scheme consisting of a hotel and student accommodation in Hertfordshire.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Attend tender presentations for new projects, contribute, lead commercially and present
• Heavily involved in preparing tender documentation
• Develop an initial concept budget and prepare a detailed cost plan for the Project Manager to agree with the client
• Prepare trade contractor bid list in conjunction with the Project Manager and obtain approval via team meetings
• Prepare and monitor bid package tender schedule and report against the cost plan where required
• Agree 2nd stage lump sum tenders and GMP’s
• Prepare and monitor Subcontract Procurement Schedule, compile trade contract bid documents and carry out tender analysis and issue purchase orders
• Place orders and instruct trade contractors. (Including compiling subcontracts/works contacts/trade contracts)
• Advise on product selection, specifications and assist with the value engineering
• Prepare financial section of project report
• Manage change orders in conjunction with the Site/Project Manager
• Prepare, submit and agree monthly costs reports, collating information from other Project/Assistant surveyors as necessary
• Prepare, submit and agree periodic valuations for work completed to date with trade contractors and the client
• Prepare ’rolling’ final account throughout project
• Close out financial account and retention releases

Desired Skills and Experience

• Candidates need to demonstrate the experience and ability to manage a large scale project in the region of £25m
• Experience of leading 2 stage tender bids is desired
• Previous experience working for a reputable main contractor delivering projects in the built environment is essential

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

• Candidates must be educated to Degree level or hold a similar equivalent qualification
