The Clerk of Works will work on a range of residential construction projects including new build housing developments, refurbishment schemes, and mixed-use projects across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and North London. Responsibilities and Duties

This Clerk of Works job in Bedfordshire will involve regular travel to construction sites across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and North London, ensuring quality assurance across all stages of construction.

  • Carry out site inspections across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and North London construction projects
  • Monitor quality of construction works on residential developments
  • Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and UK building regulations
  • Identify defects and ensure remediation works are completed
  • Produce detailed Clerk of Works inspection reports with photographs
  • Attend site and project meetings with contractors and consultants
  • Ensure construction quality standards are maintained across all sites
  • Support delivery of construction projects to programme and quality expectations

Desired Skills and Experience

The successful Clerk of Works will have strong experience within construction and residential projects in the UK.

  • Experience working as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, or Site Manager
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction and UK building regulations
  • Experience across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, or North London construction projects is beneficial
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple construction sites
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • ICWCI qualification (MICWCI / LICWCI) highly desirable
  • CIOB, RICS, CABE or equivalent construction qualification considered
  • Construction-related qualification preferred
