An Environmental Manager with marine ecology experience is required for a major project in Hong Kong

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Leading the development of major project environmental initiatives relating to marine ecology, fisheries and marine ecology and resource conservation;
  • Liaising with relevant Government departments/ bureaux, green groups, other NGOs and other important stakeholders on environmental matters primarily relating to marine ecology, fisheries and marine ecology and resource conservation;
  • Managing key environmental consultant work streams to ensure effective delivery of EIA and EP requirements and commitments (e.g. specialist consultants tasked with implementing key EIA mitigation/ enhancement measures);
  • Key role in coordination of EIA and project planning and design interface; and -Depending on particular experience and expertise, involvement in broader aspects of the environmental management/ coordination of project development during detailed design, construction and the transition to project operations.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • At least 10 years’ relevant experience, of which minimum of 6 years in a managing position;
  • Solid and proven handson management experience of environmental and/ or project management of large scale multidisciplinary construction projects
  • Track records of effective liaison and coordination with regulatory authorities on delivering major projects, experience in stakeholder engagement and public consultation would be advantageous;
  • Conversant with Hong Kong environmental legislation and its application on largescale construction projects;
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving and communication skills;
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese;
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and project management software tools

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in environmental or related discipline, Master’s degree preferable;
  • Member of HKIE, HKIEIA, CIWEM or other equivalent professional bodies would be advantageous
