Permits, Licenses and Approval Manager is needed to join a major rail project in Toronto, Ontario. For this role in-depth knowledge of the permits, licenses, agreements and approvals in Ontario province is required.

Project Details

Permits, Licenses and Approval Manager role will be to obtain all relevant permits, licenses, and approvals in line with business deliverables and timelines. Additionally, you will implement procedures & processes and improves systems for tracking and reporting on permit and approval status and risks.

Looking for candidates with at least of 6 years of industrial experience in a railway operations and maintenance environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

Permits, Licenses and Approval Manager duties will be to:

  • Lead the efforts in obtaining and tracking permit submission / renewals / responses and ensuring obligations are being fulfilled, and any variances (or anticipated variances) to submission and response milestones are identified and called to the attention of those required.
  • Assist with risk mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with organization’s policies and procedures, designs and schedule requirements throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Serve as a key point of contact with internal stakeholders to develop and monitor permit and approval processes  
  • Monitor, track, and log submissions in a timely manner for permits and licenses.
  • Liaising with approval authorities to identify permit, license and approval requirements as well as ensure timely receipt of approvals.
  • Establish systems to monitor the conformance to permits' approvals and licensing.
  • Ensure that relevant records are maintained and retained in accordance with the standards and approval processes.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 6-8+ years of industrial experience in a railway operations and maintenance environment
  • Strong experience in licenses and permits approvals on rail, transit or construction transit projects
  • Previous knowledge and experience related in transit infrastructure would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability in infrastructure management through the use of information systems.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Provincial legislation and acts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with track record of leading a team
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of relevant regulatory requirements
  • Ability to perform in fast-paced, start up environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Affinity with technical and commercial terms for contract management
  • IT skills, with Proficiency in MS Office applications

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A diploma or degree in Engineering, Business Administration/Operations, Transportation, or related field preferred, but not essential. A combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
