Our client is seeking to appoint an experienced Testing and Commissioning System Integration Manager with demonstrable experience of major rail projects to join their team to deliver a landmark complex rail project underway in Auckland, New Zealand.

Project Details

The Testing and Commissioning System Integration Manager is responsible to ensure the project delivers its technical outcomes in terms of railway performance in a timely and cost efficient way.

You will be based full time on the project site in Auckland , New Zealand.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Validate the testable JV requirements and provide evidence to support the relevant safety cases
  • Manage the TCSI department
  • Accountable and Responsible to Control the development and updates of the TCSI management plan
  • Accountable for the issuance of the TCSI procedures to deliver the Project Safely, on time and at expected cost
  • Review and approve, where applicable, suppliers testing procedures and deliverables for stage 3B
  • Accountable for developing the system migration plan between JV and operators 
  • Manage and adapt TCSI programme according to project progress and constraints
  • Manage and report on anomalies/snags raised during T&C, until final closure
  • Develop the LKA system integration facilities
  • Validate user/operator requirements on the SIF environment
  • Validate External eg Britomart system interfaces with other contracts and stakeholders
  • Provide timely reporting on TCSI activities to Systems Director
  • Liaise with Operational Readiness Manager for collection of all TCSI records and evidence
  • Liaise with Operational Readiness Manager for integration in TCSI programme needs for training of stakeholders and handover, Project completion Liaise with System Engineering Manager for testable requirements validation, system configuration and changes, external and internal system interfaces
  • Liaise with System Assurance Manager to provide validation evidence to the safety cases
  • Liaise with the Systems Delivery Manager to produce necessary procedure for smooth and effective take over/transition from delivery to TCSI
  • Chair the joint testing team set up with stakeholders for system integration coordination
  • Recruit and manage TCSI resources according to project priorities

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Engineering – System Engineering : Relevant experience in working under Engineering processes, managing medium System Engineering Department ;EN 50126
  • Testing and Commissioning : Having commissioned Safety critical element of an Operational Railway; EN 50128 – 2 Projects
  • System Assurance including Safety case: Having participated to the delivery of a Railway Operational Safety Case ; EN 50129
  • Signalling: 10 years’ experience in modern Railway signalling systems; ETCS / CBTC / APS LRT
  • Railway site construction – Experience in managing testing teams on different sites for different sub systems
  • Railway Safety – Experience in managing Railway Safety operations and interventions on an operational Railway; Site and Control Centre
  • Platform validation; SCADA and Coms: Developed System Integration and partial validation of System simulation and integration platform would be a plus
  • Leadership skills with proven ability to work in a complex environment
  • Ability to develop constructive relationships with key stakeholders and across diverse teams
  • Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Able to work under pressure in a fully integrated team environment
  • Ability to manage systems improvement projects within budget and timeframe
