A Senior Claims Consultant role within the specialist claims and disputes division of a global blue-chip construction consultancy based in the Midlands.

The role will be tied to the businesses Birmingham office, however with flexible working arrangements including regular opportunities to work from home and projects throughout the Midlands region, this role could suit candidates residing in the East Midlands or West Midlands regions.

With strong experience in a consultancy or contractor organisation, you will have seasoned knowledge in contract assurance, claims management, dispute avoidance and/or dispute resolution.

We are seeking individuals from a quantity surveying or commercial management to work with a growing team of Experts and aid the organic growth of our high performing claims and disputes division.

Project Details

One of the real selling points of this role is the variety of large scale and complex projects that you will be exposed to within this role.

Due to the size and reputation of this business, they are regularly approached to provide services by clients involved on some of the largest and most exciting projects in the UK and overseas.

Responsibilities and Duties

Within this role, you will be expected to operate independently or as part of a team dependant on the size and complexity of your assignment(s). You can expect to work alongside industry leading experts and be exposed to a wide variety of advisory services within this role, including:

  • Contractual advice
  • Contract administration
  • Claims Management
  • Dispute Avoidance
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Supporting an expert witness
  • Adjudication, arbitration, and litigation proceedings

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrate a level of practical experience in a supporting role on adjudication, arbitral or ligation processes.
  • Strong commercial management experience
  • Contract Management - A good understanding of NEC and JCT contracts and the relevant processes and procedures
  • Contract administration
  • Confident in a client facing environment, with good presentational skills and natural gravitas
  • Capable of conducting detailed project reviews on major construction projects with support from the wider team
  • Experience in a variety construction sectors and project type
  • A sound understanding of national construction contracts and the relevant processes and procedures
  • Application of robust and methodical analytical skills, with a flexible and adaptable approach to service delivery under a number of challenging scenarios
  • Confident in approach, with the ability to lead claims in your own right
  • Experience of providing consultancy services on live contracts and projects in distress an advantage

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Relevant construction degree, including quantity surveying, civil engineering, or construction management
  • MSc Construction Law or similar an advantage
  • Member ship to a relevant professional body such as the RICS would be advantageous but is not essential.
